Seriously, Lexus, why are you doing this? Who is your target market? My great aunt doesn't want this, she wants nice, soft curves and a cushy ride.
This thing looks like a Reventon with elephantitis.

That doesn't look very pedestrian safe.
MOW DOWN ALL THE PEDESTRIANS!

I like big grills but what Lexus is doing is just TOO big. And the shape doesn't work. It does look like the car got elephantitis and the original grill grew large and deformed.
And it reminds me of chainmail. It's like Lexus wanted this car to look super tough when it's not. Like some derp at a renaissance fair.

Never thought of that! Why do BMW and Ford have to create weird-nosed revisions of the 3 Series and Mustang but Lexus can create this pedestrian killer?

That, my friend, is neither. It is a trash can. From the year 2046. They're just ahead of their time.

That's what I'm saying!
Pedestrian safety regulations have ushered in a new era of sculpted butter automotive styling that I am not a fan of.
Also, yeah, I get a ton of flack for this opinion from some of y'all, but seriously, if you get hit by a car you get hit by a car. Whether or not it's ugly and round isn't going to make a huge difference.
Forward mounted spikes or spinning lawn mower blades, maybe not a good idea. But popup headlights are cool, and fat noses aren't.

What a complete mess.

You said what I've been thinking, but in a much better way than I could!
Agree that if you get hit you're probably screwed no matter what. As long as cars don't have spiked and swords mounted up front you will survive the low speed impacts and probably not surprise if the car is going fast.

That grille looks like one of those kitchen utensils you use for making French fries...

Eff pedestrians.

peugeot 407 - had, in my eyes, the worst hood to trunk ratio i've seen in a car in a long time. there's a good foot of space between the radiator and the very front of the car - and all because some drivers suck at driving/some pedestrians suck at pedestrianing...
i get there are regulations, but if car companies can still make super cars with nice sculpted front ends, why do volume car makers decide "nope. we need a giant pillow up front"

I dunno, I like it. For once, the rest of the car looks to match up stylistically with the front. On nearly every other lexus they take a boring toyota and copy-paste just the front end on it.

I'll be putting a cow plow on mine for those pesky jay walkers!

I imagine their market would be people who bought/will buy the FX-35/QX70 but want a little more. I'm on the fence about it, but I'm leaning towards liking it; it's a welcome change from really boring but they may have gone 1-2 steps too far in the opposite direction.
